Suzhou Basecare Medical Corporation Limited (Basecare), a company in SIP, received the medical device registration certificate for its Gems culture medium recently, bringing the international leading reproductive assistance product into Chinese market.

The Gems culture medium was developed by Genea’s IVF center in Sydney. Genea is a globally renowned group focused on assisted reproductive technology. In 2023, Basecare Medical acquired Singpore-based Genea Biomedx and its subsidiary. This move has not only accelerated the localization process of internationally advanced products, but also laid a solid foundation for Basecare Medical to build a complete industrial chain system.
The approval of the Gems culture medium, together with Basecare Medical’s previous localization of the Geri time-lapse incubator and Gems handling medium, is expected to allow the company to become a pioneer in building a relatively complete industrial chain support system within the country. Clinical research data shows that the adoption of related technologies has significantly improved the blastocyst culture success rate for advanced maternal age patients (≥38 years old). Consequently, clinical pregnancy rates and live birth rates have also seen significant enhancement.
