On Mar 8, the International Women’s Day, two exhibitions for women opened simultaneously at the Younan Art Gallery, SIP, transforming the gallery’s 4,000-square-meter exhibition hall into a spiritual space with both philosophical depth and artistic warmth. The exhibitions will run till Apr 23.
The “Her Multiverse ? Women’s Special Exhibition for the New Year” brings together works by five female artists: Song Santu, Zhou Wenjing, Li Yichen, Yang Wan, and Xiao Tingting. It is not only a contemporary artistic practice of French philosopher Jacques Derrida’s concept of “différance”, but also a collective voice focusing on women’s self-expression and deep spiritual exploration, breaking the stereotype of women’s art.
The other one, themed “The Realm of Perception ? Reconstruction of the Mind: What You See is Yourself”, turns to individuals’ inner world. Artist Tan Kun, with “visual translation of spiritual mirrors” as the core of creation, carves out a unique artistic path between the emotional release of abstract expressionism and rational thinking of postmodern philosophy.
