Over 51 days from Jan 17, the Suzhou Museum of Contemporary Art (Suzhou MoCA) attracted more than 18,000 visitors with two exhibitions, seven exhibition-related events and 22 public art education activities. It offered an art feast with both artistic value and market acclaim, sparking a new wave of urban cultural and artistic innovation and upgrading.

As a new landmark in Suzhou, the Suzhou MoCA has been highly anticipated since its planning and design phase. A series of events held while the project was still in construction enhanced the public’s interest in it.

The museum launched operation with two exhibitions: one designed to mark the 120th anniversary of the birth of Cai Chusheng, a key figure in the transition from early exploration to maturity in Chinese film, and the other curated to present a dialogue on construction logic and spatial awareness centering on materials. Both received positive response from the visitors.

The museum’s services have received high praise, too. During the trial operation, over 100 staff members served on site to guide visitors through their journeys to art. Visitors’ feedback has been collected via email or the museum’s service center as basis for future improvements.

The museum also selected over 500 products from more than 40 brands across nine countries, including items from several world-renowned art museums, offering visitors quality souvenirs.

The art education activities and exhibition-related events offered more than 10,000 participants chances to delve deeper into diverse forms of art.

The museum is now preparing the exhibition for its formal opening.
